Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and ex-chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and she was formerly an instructor of cooking. Burrell hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on Food Network. Food Network. Anne Burrell, a Food Network presenter with her distinctive spikey blonde hair and bubbly personality, reveals simple methods to master and removes the fear of eating at restaurants in her series Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell worked at New York at top restaurants and studied the Italian culinary tradition and its geography. Additionally, she competed as Iron Chef America on Food Network. Growing up in the Upstate New York area, Chef Burrell found a passion for cooking and food from a young age. The Culinary Institute of America was the next stage for her after she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English as well as Communications from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I enjoyed every moment." It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. Following graduation, Burrell spent one year studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. Her time spent in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate Italian tradition and philosophy, and this has left an impact on her own perception of food. Burrell is an ambassador for the celebrity chef of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She also has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board, which helps kids who have challenges. Burrell is often a guest speaker at conferences and travels throughout the United States as part of her mentorship role. Anne has always been grateful she could share the passion that she had for and her passion for cooking, with people around the world.
